The Three Principles for Living your Life

from the Global Community for All.

May we do our best to choose what’s best for all

May we open to guidance from the divine

We commit to love, healing, and empowerment for all

Global Community for All is a community based on the above three principles.  These principles can be practiced by anyone with an open heart and an open mind.  Putting them into practice in your daily life may not be easy at first, yet if you are willing to make the effort and open to love and empowerment from others in the community and from the divine, you are likely to find that it becomes easier all the time.  You will likely also find that your life becomes gradually richer and fuller.  By gathering regularly and encouraging each other to live by these principles on a daily basis, we strengthen our own lives and empower those around us as we work together to make the world a better place for ourselves and for all.

May we do our best to choose what is best for all

A Multitude of Choices.  Every day we are faced with a multitude of choices.  There are many simple or small choices.  Do I get up now or sleep a while longer?  What clothes do I want to wear today?  What do I want to eat?  Then there are the more significant choices.  Do I want to call or get together with a certain friend or family member?  How do I act towards that person who did not treat me well?  What do I want to do with my free time?  What direction do I want my life to take?

Whether we’re aware of it or not, we make hundreds of choices every day.  How we make these choices has a profound impact on our lives.  How we make even the little choices affects what we experience and sometimes how we feel as we move through the day.  We can choose to eat healthy, nutritious food or we can choose whatever most excites our taste buds.  This choice will have an impact on our body and health, and may even affect the way we think and feel about ourselves.

Then there are the more significant choices, like what direction we want our lives to take.  We can choose to go with the flow and wait for things to happen to us, or we can choose to set goals and strive to create the life we envision.  This kind of choice will have a profound impact not only on what happens in our lives, but also on how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others.  Every choice we make, however big or small, affects us in some way.

How Do You Make Choices?  Are you aware of how you make your choices?  Is there anything you use to guide you in making choices throughout each day?  If you are interested in living a richer, fuller life, there is a way you can give your choices a clear direction, a way you can give your life a clear focus.  There is a foundation upon which you can base your decisions, which can make life better not only for you, but also for all around you.  This foundation is to try always to do what is best for all.

May we do our best to choose what is best for me, for you, and for all in each moment of our lives.

Imagine for a moment what this world might be like if everyone made choices based on what is best for all.  Imagine if every parent, spouse, friend, teacher, businessman, lawyer, and politician tried to choose what is best for all in every decision they made.  We would certainly live in a different world.

Taking the First Step.  Though we can’t expect everyone to do this, we can choose to take a first step in that direction.  Imagine for a moment what it might be like if you based all your choices and decisions on what is best for all, even if those around you didn’t.  You might have to make more compromises and even sacrifices at times, yet think of how much fuller and clearer your life could be.  Think of how much better you might feel about yourself.

It’s the Intention.  “But how do I know what is really best?” you might ask.  The answer is simple.  It doesn’t matter.  What matters is not what choice we end up making, but rather the intention behind our choice.  Many times we will not know what’s best.  It will not be clear to us what is the best choice for all concerned.  What matters is that we remember our intention of wanting what is best for all, even when we’re not sure what the best choice might be.

If it later turns out that we made what appears to have been a wrong choice, there’s no need to feel guilty.  By simply knowing that we chose with a sincere desire for what’s best for all, our heart and conscience can stay clear and open.  This allows us to more easily admit we were wrong, to learn from our mistakes, and to live with a clear conscience.

What’s Best for Me, Too!  Choosing what is best for all doesn’t mean we need to always sacrifice ourselves for others.  An overly exhausted mother can lose her temper easily.  Some time off for this mother might seem selfish, yet in the long run it can help her to be a better mother to her children.  Giving to ourselves is sometimes the best choice for all.

Remember with the Important Choices.  How can we remember to make choices based upon what’s best for all?  We make many, many choices every day.  It would be impossible to consciously think about what is best for every decision.  With smaller choices, we don’t need to consciously think about it, as we know that we carry this intention with us in all that we do.  What is important, though, is that with all difficult or significant choices, we do our best to remember to choose what’s best for all.

A Richer Life.  By frequently reminding ourselves of our deep desire to choose what is best, our mind and heart become ever clearer and lighter, and our decisions become more natural.  And as we feel the ongoing support of our community encouraging us to become ever more aligned with what is best for all, our decisions become ever easier and more focused.  By choosing to do what is best for all, our lives in general are very likely to become much richer and fuller.

May we open to guidance from the divine

Many Forms of Guidance.  Guidance can come in many forms.  Sometimes family or friends can give wonderful guidance in dealing with a particular problem or situation.  A book or a TV program might provide useful advice.  Our community can give us invaluable support and guidance.  All of this guidance can be useful, particularly if it helps to support our desire to choose what is best for all.  The most powerful guidance, however, often comes from sources unseen.  By opening to guidance from the divine, we open to the support of powerful forces greater than ourselves which can help our lives to grow and blossom ever more beautifully.

Many Meanings for Divine.  The divine has different meanings to different people.  For some, the divine means God, Creator, Allah, Great Spirit, or whatever we choose to call the supreme consciousness or all encompassing essence of the universe.  For others, the divine involves the realm of our forefathers or ancestors, the realm of those who have gone before us.  For some it is the spirits of nature or spirits from other realms.  Still others believe that each one of us has a guiding spirit or spirits, that we all have one or more guardian angels who help to guide us.  Some people believe in all of these.  Yet even if you don’t believe in any of this, or you are not sure about the existence of the divine, you might open to the possibility that there is a wise part of your self--a higher self or a deeper self--which can provide you with divine guidance.

How we define or view the divine is not important here.  What is important is that we open to the presence of the divine, however we choose to define it, and that we consciously invite this powerful guidance into our daily lives.

Through communicating with the divine, our intention of choosing what is best for all becomes more potent.  The divine knows much better than we do what is best in each situation.  By consciously asking for help from the divine in choosing what’s best in all we do, we allow greater forces to help guide our decisions.

Many Ways to Ask.  How do we ask for divine guidance?  There are many ways.  You may already have your own meaningful prayer or meditation practice.  You may want to experiment with different ways you hear about, read about, or come up with yourself.  You can choose whatever way feels best to you.

A beautiful practice we highly recommend at Global Community for All is to set aside a few minutes each morning upon awakening.  First, reaffirm your commitment to do what is best for yourself and for all in your life this day.  Then, ask directly to the divine for guidance in helping you to make choices that are best for all involved throughout the day.  You might also welcome into your life each morning the wisdom and guidance of any angels, ancestors, or spirits who are committed to what’s best for all.  And don’t forget to reaffirm support for our global community in being the best that we can be.

You can do the same at bedtime every night, asking for divine guidance during your sleep and dream time.  And any time during the day when you need to make a significant decision or when you want to calm or center yourself, you can always stop for a moment and ask the divine for help, guidance, and inspiration in choosing what is best for all.

All Requests Only if it’s Best.  In communicating with the divine, you might at times ask or pray for something in particular for yourself or for others.  Whenever you ask or pray for something specific, by ending with “only if this is what’s best for all,” you open to a higher level of guidance.  There are times when in asking for something we feel fairly certain we know what’s best.  Yet there can be unforeseen consequences or reasons why what we’re asking for is not the best for all.  By always adding, “only if this is what’s best for all,” we allow divine forces to enrich our lives and the lives of others in unexpected ways.

Challenges as Teachers.  There are times when what is best is not what is easiest or most enjoyable.  Sometimes unwanted challenges, difficult situations, and even pain can teach us important lessons that in the long run help us to enjoy life more fully.  When we open and surrender to all experiences as gifts from the divine and opportunities for growth and understanding, we open to a deeper level of divine guidance.

Atheists Can Try, Too!  Even if you doubt that God or the divine exists or plays a role in our daily lives, you can give this principle a try.  You might be surprised at what happens, particularly if you are open to change and growth in your life.  The results may at times not be what you expected, but in the long run you are very likely to find your life becoming much richer, fuller, and more satisfying.  By opening to divine guidance in all things and asking always for guidance in choosing what is best for all, we allow loving, supportive forces much greater than ourselves to help bring whatever is best into our lives and the lives of those around us.

We Commit to Love, Healing, and Empowerment for All

Loving, Healing, and Empowering Me.  Let’s start with ourselves.  May I do my best to love myself, to heal myself, and to empower myself to be the best I can be today and every day of my life.  By making a commitment to ourselves, to our own personal growth, it becomes easier to support both ourselves and those around us.

Loving, Healing, and Empowering All.  Now let us move to others.  Do we really want to love, heal, and empower all people?  What if we really don’t like someone?  If we feel a dislike towards a person, we can remind ourselves that it is usually their personality that we don’t like--the way they talk, the way they act, or the way they treat us.  We can choose to recognize that beneath this personality there is a beautiful, divine soul just like us.  We can do our best to remember our shared commitment and to find love in our hearts even when someone has a personality we don’t like.  We can continually strive to see that divine spark in all we meet.

Judgment.  A common distraction from our desire to love, heal, and empower each other is negative judgment.  Judging someone to be a bad person does not empower anyone, no matter how negative a person’s actions or behavior might be.  When we find ourselves feeling negative judgment, we can first acknowledge the part of us that wants to judge, that wants to feel better than others, to feel right and justified.  We can try to understand and learn from our judgment, and then to let it go, accepting that we all have our faults and weaknesses.  We can then open to finding the place in ourselves where we want to love and empower the person we judged to be the best they can be.

Differentiating Negative Actions from Divine Essence.  What if we see someone doing something that appears clearly wrong, or is causing harm?  In this case, we can be firm and take whatever action we feel is best to stop any harm.  Yet even as we take firm action, we can try to understand what has brought the person to do this.  We can try to understand their inner turmoil.  We can then try to see beyond weaknesses, beyond the turmoil that causes people to do harm, so that we can act from a place of love and healing for their divine essence, even while firmly stopping them from doing wrong or causing harm.  We can also apply whatever consequences are necessary while at the same time sending love, healing, and empowerment to their deepest essence.  This supportive attitude may very well do more towards changing negative behavior than anything else.

Inspiring Others.  We empower others by continually encouraging them to be the best they can be. We can also remind them of their commitment to love, heal, and empower.  By simply doing our best to live by our community’s three principles, and to remember that we share this commitment with all members of our community, we provide inspiration and empowerment for others to be the best they can be.

Imagine…  Imagine for a moment a world where all people tried their best to love, heal, and empower each other.  Imagine if a significant number of the people on this planet truly did their best to live by the three principles upon which Global Community for All is based.  We are choosing to be those people.  We are choosing to come together with all in our community to make this world a better place.  Thank you, and thank us all for choosing to love, heal, and empower each other and all around us.

Final Words on Three Principles of Global Community for All

·         May we do our best to choose what’s best for all.
·         May we open to guidance from the divine.
·         We commit to love, healing, and empowerment for all.

These are simple, yet powerful principles.  By remembering and living them as we move through each day, our lives are bound to grow richer and fuller.  We can start each day by recommitting ourselves to these principles.  At important points in the day, or even when resting or taking a break, we can remind ourselves of our intention to follow them.  We can also ask others in our community to support and remind us in times of need.  At night before sleep, we can give thanks for the day and ask for love, healing and empowerment for all who share our world.  We can apply these principles right now to difficult situations in our lives.  There’s no time like the present.

Through doing our best to choose what’s best for all, through opening to guidance from the divine, and through loving, healing, and empowering all, we are all helping to make this world a better place both for ourselves and for all around us.  And remember that with Global Community for All we have a loving community that is in this moment, and in every moment committed to love, healing, and empowerment for us, and wishing for us all the very best in our journey through life.
