We Are The Progressive Christian Voice on Campus

SJSPIRIT is a progressive campus Christian Student Group which means we choose to view the world influenced by the teaching and life of Jesus. We invite all people to participate without insisting that they become like us in order to be acceptable (including but not limited to): believers and agnostics, conventional Christians and questioning skeptics, women and men, those of all sexual orientations and gender identities, those of all races and cultures, those of all classes and abilities, those who hope for a better world and those who have lost hope. As Progressive Christians we find more grace in the search for understanding than we do in dogmatic certainty – more value if questioning than in absolutes. We strive for peace and justice among all people, protecting and restoring the integrity of all God's creation, and bringing hope to those Jesus called the least of his sisters and brothers.

We are a member of the Progressive Church movement and adhere to their Eight Guiding Principles.

SJspirit.org ( at SJSU) is organization of college students and young adults in Silicon Valley who are on a spiritual path or who dare to explore the spiritual world. We invite people of all faiths (no faith), traditions and backgrounds. We are a welcoming, affirming and open community that offers spiritual education and guidance. We gather for worship, rituals and recreation as we strive to connect with our spiritual purpose in life, with other people, and with the planet. We work to understand that we are each a unique creation in the universe and are called to be compassionate, caring, nonjudgmental women and men reaching out in love to our families, friends, and neighbors here in Silicon Valley and around the world. We find our roots in this beautiful blue-green creation we call Earth as we learn to appreciate the mysteries of Creation. Because we are rooted in creation, we are involved in Creation Spirituality and Sacred Ecology.

We offer programming for people of all faiths (no faith), spiritual traditions and backgrounds. All are welcome. We work with all people and are in the business of service and not attempting to make converts. You will be honored as the indivdual you are becoming. Check out our many offtering on our spirituality page.

Although we are campus based, we invite and welcome young adults in Silicon Valley to all of our activities. (Click here for directions to the office or here to contact us).

Many people help to make these programs available to you. Please take a look at our sponsors page.
